It aims to provide the student with the skills needed to be able to support mums- to-be throughout their pregnancy into labour and afterwards with postnatal care. As well as specific reflexology techniques, you will be taught how the body prepares for pregnancy and birth, what pain relief is available, and pregnancy care and hospital protocol. You will consider the possible related conditions that can be encountered during the three trimesters and labour itself. It is possible that you the reflexologist is seeing the client more often than her midwife so it is vital that you can identify a possible problem and know when to suggest medical intervention. Home study will include following 2 case studies through their pregnancy; and labour, if possible. A dissertation of 4000 will be written on a related subject in order to expand the Reflexologist’s knowledge. This will be externally verified. The date of Day 2 is approx 3-6 months after Day 1. A treatment includes massage of the upper back/shoulders, arms, neck, scalp, face and energy balancing. Clients are not required to undress and no special equipment, is needed, making treatments accessible to many. A full treatment lasts half and hour but in some circumstances (e.g. for corporate clients) 15 or 20 minute sessions are popular. This comprehensive three-day course aims to provide students with the skills needed to achieve a professional standard of competence in the art of Indian Head Massage and promote the confidence needed to work effectively with clients. Practical The emphasis of the course is on students achieving a high standard of practical techniques. Ross & Wilson The 3 hour theoretical external examination set by the International Examination Board is held at regular intervals at the ESHCM in Sutton Surrey.
